Government Relations & Regulatory Affairs

COHA plays an important role with provincial and federal government regulators, ensuring the issues of the industry are made known to government decision makers, and offering workable solutions in a timely manner.· COHA National works closely with the provincial chapters to develop integrated and sustainable policy positions for the industry.

Member Alerts

The Association's primary communication tool for topical issues is the Member Alert, and is largely distributed by e-mail.· Member Alerts provide quick assessments and key messages on important issues such as fuel oil pricing, government relations initiatives, new industry initiatives, and other important topics.

Member Alerts are available only to members of COHA, and help to support a common message and response from a united industry.

Public and Media Relations

Another key communication tool for COHA is the use of news releases to help inform other sectors and the public about important initiatives and policy positions of the association.· As the voice of the oilheat industry in Canada, COHA must position itself as the go-to organization for the media and other groups to find out about issues affecting the oilheat industry.

Technical Support

COHA members receive the benefit of a quick response technical support line, supported by technical experts from the industry.· Inquiries regarding regulatory compliance matters, code changes, training and certification requirements, and general technical matters are responded to quickly and in a clear and concise manner.· COHA tracks all inquiries, and uses these responses to develop collections of best practices and made available to members.

Industry Database

COHA acts as the single largest collector of research and statistics for the Canadian oilheat industry.· COHA's information database makes use of data from a variety of reliable sources, combined with specific research initiatives undertaken by COHA.· COHA's goal is to provide Canadian-specific data that is so desperately needed.· COHA National maintains the central repository of information comprised of national and provincial information sources.
